Heidi M Lorenz, born in Muenchweiler, Germany December 18, 1965. Heidi spent childhood predominately in the United Kingdom where magnificent coastline & country life enthused a sensibility toward art, horses, the sea & country. Heidi was struck early by the illustrations of "Black Beauty" created by Anna Sewell & these illustrated pages shaped her initial artistic impression. Summers were often spent in the United States and academic periods in the United Kingdom. Early on Heidi would hike several miles to visit the local "Red House Museum" to experience authentic works of art. As a teenager Heidi traveled further a field to view original oils by artist Lucy Kemp-Welch at the "Russell-Cotes Museum" & eventually as a young adult Heidi would encounter first hand the vast art & cultural scene of London, Paris, & many other great cities! Today, Heidi enjoys country life in Goshen, NH living among many farmyard creatures and enjoying the peace and serenity this environment affords.

In 1985 Heidi studied business at Brockenhurst College, a high-achieving college set in a friendly 36-acre campus within the beautiful New Forest National Park in England. Heidi relocated to the United States in 1986 supporting strong British influence & work experience in the graphic arts. While in the United States Heidi gained a Bachelor of Psychology & began art education at the University of NH in 1995. Heidi traveled the United States and Canada for several years and in 1998 settled down to private study with renowned maritime artist Christopher James Ward. Further, in 2002 Heidi joined Boston School painter Dan Helgemo at the Ateljé Helgemo. Heidi studied extensively with acclaimed Barbizon painter Dennis Sheehan between 2002 & 2006 and currently is under the tutelage of Peter Granucci in a nine month advanced principles course.

Farm Life

In addition to painting Heidi is an avid horsewoman with three off the track thoroughbreds and one spirited miniature horse. Heidi also supports horse rescue missions by donating paintings when possible to local rescues. If Heidi isn't painting then she may be on the trail with one or all of her horses, hiking with the dogs or possibly hanging from some roof somewhere fixing something. There is a small gallery on the property where visitors are welcome to browse current artwork. Appointments are best to avoid disappointment, but, drop ins are acceptable.
